Rhode Island, Newborn Photographer | Dante

As the proud parents of a newborn baby boy, my clients wanted to honor their son’s tiny toes, sweet smile, and precious sighs by having photos done with him as soon as he was born. The best way to do this was to find a Rhode Island newborn photographer who could capture their child’s face in these early days and weeks when his features are still soft, his skin perfect, and his eyes wide with wonder at the world around him.

My Gear

As I’ve been photographing babies for over three years, I have a pretty good idea of what my gear needs to be to get me through a session. Although there are tons of great camera options out there, I use a Nikon Z6 II with Sigma 35 1.4 lens for all my clients (you can check out my Instagram page to see all my work). This combination is fast, easy to focus and allows me to easily switch back and forth between wide-angle and close-up shots.

The Shoot

Dante was so sweet and sleepy I was able to get all the shots I wanted, as well as a few that my clients requested. This was one of my favorite newborn sessions yet! He just slept the whole time like an angel and the parents had a lot of fun with the props. Here are some highlights from his session in which I used colors the clients requested.

Editing Process and Final Results

As I edit my pictures, I will adjust brightness and contrast, add clarity, boost shadows and highlights, create a color palette using curves/levels and make sure all skin tones are spot on. You get to see my editing process as I go and then receive all your edited images in several different versions. All my newborn sessions include full extensive editing where I take each photo from one extreme to another. There may be 5-6 different edited versions of each image that you can pick from for your print orders.
